This is where you should start your map making journey.
After you save your Battlefield in TEd it will be saved in the following directory Ĭ:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\The Creative Assembly\Shogun2\maps\. Navigate to the folder of your created map. In this folder there will be a file called icon.tga this is the image that Shogun2 uses to display your map in-game. The second image you can supply is called steam_workshop.jpg. 
This is the thumbnail image that is displayed when browsing the Steam Workshop. It is not essential to supply one (an image can be supplied after the map has been uploaded). It can be whatever you like but a screenshot of your battlefield would be useful. 
It must be included in the same folder as icon.tga and the other additional map files. The file map_info.xml (located in the map folder) is an essential file that determines what type of map you have created and also contains other vital information. When you save your battlefield in TEd this file is created automatically so all you have to do it open it up and edit a few things. A detailed explanation of XML files can be found on the following websites. If you want your map to be a Historical Battle, your map_info.xml file has to contain the following tags. = The name of you map and how it will be shown to others both in game and on the Steam Workshop. 
= A description of your map that will appear in Steam Workshop.= When set to 1, the map will ONLY appear in the map list in the.When set to 0 the map will be present in both the Custom Battles and Multiplayer Battles sections, and can be played against other players. In addition, if you want your map to be a Historical Battle, two additional files must be created and placed in this folder.The contents of what has to be contained in these files are described in great detail in separate documents called.Both of which are located in the same folder as this document.NOTE: If your Historical Battle does not contain both a valid battle.xml and a, the game may crash when attempting to load it If you want your map to be a Multiplayer Battle, your map_info.xml file has to contain the following tags.and = The different sizes of each team.
The possible combinations are 1v1, 2v2, 3v3 and 4v4.
